Choristers urged to walk the talk

A CCAP clerk has urged choristers in the country to be exemplary by practising what they preach through music.

Moderator of Ndirande Kachere CCAP Church Reverend Enos Muhiwa made the call recently when he attended the launch of the K1 million (US$2 439) Eunice Makangala Gospel Music Competition.

Muhiwa said choristers are messengers of God and their mission is to counsel Christians through music.

He asked them to lead by example so that people should relate what choristers preach to their lifestyles.

“Music is very powerful. Music soothes the heart; people get healed through gospel music. So, when you are composing your songs, don’t focus on money because singing is a ministry,” said Muhiwa.

Makangala, who is parliamentarian for the area, said the competition will be open to all religions, including Islam.

But she said Muslims will have a separate category.

“We can’t combine Christians and Muslims in the same category because they have different approaches to gospel songs,” said Makangala.
