Centre for Human Rights Education, Advice and Assistance (Chreaa) wants speedy justice for victims of gender-based violence in Mwanza District amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The organisation’s district project coordinator Boxten Kudziwe said this on Friday when he handed over 10 bicycles to community paralegals from the district’s traditional authorities.

He said the bicycles will ease mobility challenges the paralegals face when collecting data on human rights abuse in communities.

“We want communities to access justice during the pandemic, especially those in hard-to-reach areas,” he said.

Steven Chimpeni, a paralegal from Traditional Authority Nthache, said the bicycle will motivate him to report human rights abuses to relevant authorities.

The organisation trained the paralegals on their role before the donation.

The organisation is implementing Access to Justice Programme in the district.
