Transworld Radio (TWR) Malawi recently launched its Thousand Member Team (TMT) initiative in the South to raise operation funds.
The initiative targets a thousand people to commit at least K50 000 per annum for TWR operational costs.
This is the second launch after the first one held in Lilongwe. So far, 450 people have subscribed to TMT, according to board chairperson Justice Esme Chombo.
Speaking at the launch in Blantyre, Chombo said it costs K10 000 per hour for the radio to spread the gospel on its airwaves.
She said the budget for the station in 2014 stood at K74 million and as of September, TWR had collected K59 million.
TWR board member Henry Kachaje took the prospective TMT members through a presentation hinging on the relationship between God, wealth, prosperity, riches and abundance.
He emphasised on the importance of money in the ministry, arguing that having a heart to help God’s work alone is not enough.
“God is looking for people who can be trusted with wealth and prosperity. Ignorance on the subject of money makes us think money is satanic,” argued Kachaje.
Armed with scriptures that cleared misconceptions about holiness unto God and accumulation of wealth, Kachaje taught that wealth, prosperity and riches come from God; God gives the ability to make wealth; God expects a person to provide for the family and God expects a person to provide for His work, among other topics.
TWR Malawi gets funding from adverts, sales of broadcast time, donations and fundraising activities.
