Church receives K107.5m for printing house

Fort Worth Diocese of the Anglican Church in the United States of America (USA) has donated $150 000 (about K107.5 million) to Northern Malawi Diocese of the Anglican Church to set up a printing house.

Father Chris Culpepper of Fort Worth Diocese made the donation during the ordination of Kondwani Kandeya and Martin Nkhoma to priesthood in Mzuzu on Sunday.

The ceremony was also organised to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the partnership between Forth Worth and the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi.

Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi Bishop Fanuel Magangani said the printing house will help the diocese become self-sufficient.

“We decided to come up with the printing shop where we can begin to print books for our church and those from outside. We were doing it at a very small-scale,” he said.

On the ordination, Magangani said the addition of two priests to the diocese will help it achieve its mission of reaching out to the lost in all corners of the region.

In his remarks, Culpepper pledged to continue supporting the diocese..

He said his diocese supports the local church so that its priests focus on God’s mission and not worry “as to where to get food or feed their families”. n
