The Churches of Christ in Malwi will hold its annual general conference from this Thursday to Sunday at Chiendausiku Church in Balaka.

The church’s vice chairperson for Blantyre congregation Reverend Leman Kamdidi announced the conference last week in a media statement.

He said this year’s conference is inspired by Isaiah 6 verse 8.

“There will be training about tithing, cancer and the gospel. The conference is open to all Malawians of all denominations. We are expecting many people and preparations are well underway,” said Kamdidi.

He added that there will be cinema every night while the conference is on and that Reverend Sam Kantema will officially hand over the mantle as head of the church’s Gowa synod to Ernest Kanjere.

Kanjere’s deputy will be elected at the conference.

The outgoing Kantema said he is satisfied at the end of his term and boasts of consecrating 164 pastors, overseeing the construction of a prayer house in Chiradzulu and the moulding of 60 000 bricks in Ndirande.

He said he will continue to be pastor of the four churches in Blantyre: Ndirande, Machinjiri, Makhetha and Selemani in Chiradzulu.

The Churches of Christ, not to be confused with the Church of Christ, has two synods in Malawi: Gowa, which spans the northern Malawi to Blantyre, and Namiwawa Synod, which covers areas such as Mulanje.
