Speaking during a media briefing in Blantyre yesterday, moderator for the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, Apostle Madalitso Mbewe, who is also CFC founder, said they were concerned with continued reports of political violence in the country and decided to bring presidential aspirants together to preach to them the importance of peace so that they take the same messages to their followers.

Besides the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, the organisers have also come up with a four-fold strategic prayer plan.

They also plan to meet Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) officials, the Judiciary, police, Malawi Defence Force (MDF) and aspiring legislators and councillors. The presidential candidates will also be made to sign a document to signify their commitment to peace.

The grouping first held the Presidential Prayer Breakfast in 1999 and it has been the trend in every election year except 2014 where they failed to hold the prayers due to lack of funding.
