City projects discussions still underway—BCC

Blantyre City Council (BCC) says discussions on projects with Chinese investors it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with are still underway.

The MoU signed after the first Malawi Investment Forum (MIF 2015) in June last year was a commitment to commence serious discussions between the Council and China-Zambia and China-Tanzania Cultural Friendly-Cultural Exchange Programme.

According to the BCC public relations officer Anthony Kasunda, the discussions on the upcoming projects are still in progress.

“The council has not yet reached the position of costing and we are yet to identify partners to heed the projects which include the construction of a multi-storey arcade and a bus terminal,” said Kasunda.

Recently, the city mayor Noel Chalamanda visited Nanchang city in China where he met the leadership of Nanchang Federation of Industry and Commerce to discuss more investment opportunities in the city.
