Civo, Eagles tussle in Super League

Civo United travel to Silver Stadium in Lilongwe this afternoon as underdogs to face Blue Eagles in a TNM league match.

The Civil Servants are buoyed by their fruitful sojourn to Blantyre last weekend where they bagged maximum points after edging Fisd Wizards and Be Forward Wanderers by 1-0 margins.

However, Eagles, who are third on the log table with 26 points, are the favourites looking at their recent performance and depth in quality. They too had a good weekend after thumping Airborne Rangers 3-0.

While admitting the fixture is a tough one, Civo coach Oscar Kaunda, expressed optimism that his charges will continue from where they stopped last weekend.

“People might view us as underdogs, but that is okay with us. It is such mentality that will spur us on to achieve a result. Eagles are a god team, but we will give it all our best,” said Kaunda whose team is currently on ninth position with 22 points from 15 games.

In the first round, the two teams settled for a one-all draw.

“It is always tough playing Civo. It is always a see-saw affair—we beat them, they beat us and it is very difficult to predict the result. But we have trained well and are ready,” said Eagles team manager Gabriel Chirwa in an interview on Wednesday in Lilongwe.

At Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, Wanderers will be looking forward to recovering from last weekend’s loss to Civo when they host Kamuzu Barracks (KB).

Nomads are fifth with 26 points from 15 games.

On the other hand, KB will be looking forward to avenging the 0-1 first-round defeat they suffered at home. KB are seventh with 23 points from 15 games. n
