Civo, Escom get tough Carlsberg draw

Escom United and Civo United got tough Carlsberg Cup national draw after being pitted against Super League teams Mafco and Bvumbwe Research in the two of the three all Super league encounters in the draw.

The other all Super League crash will be between Kamuzu Barracks and Kabwafu.

The other giants have been given easier draws with regional league sides.

United co-coach Jacob Ngwira described the draw as a tough one during the Friday draw televised live on MBC TV.

“Mafco are a very tough side and this is going to be a difficult match. But we are prepared for them and we will take them head on,” said Ngwira.

Wanderers FC will face Cobbe Barracks while Bullets FC will travel to Mzuzu to face Super Eagles.

Super League champions Silver Strikers will face Support Battalion and Blue Eagles will play Maicc FC.

Carlsberg senior brand manager for alcoholics Twikale Chirwa, who presided over the draw, described it as a free and fair.

“We are excited that we are now about to get the cup rolling at national level. So with these draw we expect exciting games,” said Chirwa.

The national phase kicks off on October 13.

The following is the full draw: Super Dynamos vs Tigers FC, Moyale vs Thondwe, Mzuni vs BNC, Silver Youth vs Blue Eagles Youth, Black Eagles vs Red Lions, Changalume vs Epac, Evrom vs Airborne, Blantyre United vs Karonga Vendors.
