With home ground advantage, Karonga United expected to turn the tables. However, the visitors scored through Binwell Katinji just before half-time.

Ndawa: We have just finalised it today

Karonga United responded through Clement Nyondo in the 84th minute and the game ended 1-1.

Lanken Mwale and Innocent Tanganyika scored for Civo at Silver Stadium in the first leg two weeks ago.

If Silver win the return match against TN Stars at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa today, they will face Civo. In the other semi-final, Nyasa Big Bullets date their rivals Mighty Wanderers.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Civo coach Franco Ndawa said the win over Karonga United has given them confidence to continue working hard.

“It is a journey that we started in Lilongwe. We have just finalised it today. We will polish up the weak areas as we look forward to the next game in the competition,” he said.

On his part, Karonga United team manager Wilberforce Longwe said they did not play their usual game hence the loss.

“The attacking machinery was not aggressive and it is not surprising that we did not win. We wish Civo all the best as they have progressed to the next stage,” he said.

Mphatso Kamanga of Karonga United was Man of the Match in the game.
