Thoko mkolongo mar28 | The Nation Online Over six coaches, including one from South Africa, have applied for the Civo United head coach position, the club has confirmed.

Civo general secretary Rashid Ntelela said the applications trickled in before Monday’s cut-off point following an advert that was placed in local newspapers two weeks ago.

“From the post office stamp, there is one which is from South Africa, but I do not know whether the coach is merely based in South Africa or he is South African. We will open the letters later when shortlisting the applicants for interviews,” Ntelela said on Monday.

The Lilongwe-based limping giants want to replace Alex Masanjala who was fired last season before the Civil Servants engaged Tom Mkolongo.

“I am among the applicants, but I wouldn’t know the rest. I rate my chances of making it at 50-50. I found the team placed ninth and it finished the league sixth, winning five games, one draw and four losses,” Mkolongo said on Wednesday.
