Civo United attacking midfielder Martin Masoatheka and winger Gasha Mphizi are training with Mafco FC after being offered employment in the Army, Weekend Nation has learnt.

Civo team manager Gerald Mhango confirmed in an interview on Tuesday that the two players are in Salima.

“Officially, we are yet to get an offer letter for the two players from Mafco, but it is true that Masoatheka and Mphizi are in Salima. They were on holiday when they were approached by Mafco,” said Mhango.

Civo are set to regroup for next season on February 18.

“Once we regroup, we shall see how to pursue the matter of the two players, who are contracted to Civo. They either have to see their contracts through or Mafco will buy out their contracts,” said Mhango.

Meanwhile, Civo are calling on players wishing to try their luck with the club to go to their stadium during weekdays.

Coach Oscar Kaunda has been trying players since last week as he searches for talent to beef up his squad for the 2014-15 season.

“We have been conducting trials for a week now and we will do so until Friday. There are some promising players who we think can contribute to our title hopes next season, but I cannot disclose the names yet. But by Friday I will give you some names,” said Kaunda.
