Elevated to head coach: Kaunda

Lilongwe sleeping giants Civo United have opted to elevate Oscar Kaunda to the post of head coach on a one-year contract.

Civo general secretary Rashid Ntelela confirmed on Saturday that the contract was subject to renewal if Kaunda and his assistant Beg Mwagomba perform well.

“We had a meeting two days ago and Kaunda will be coaching Civo. There are targets but realistic ones. We don’t want the team to end outside the top four. We have promised to give him all resources and asked him to formulate his own plan,” Ntelela said.

Kaunda stepped in for sacked Thom Mkolongo last season and ma

steer the civil servants from fourth from bottom to position nine.

“It is the wish of every coach to do well. It is a pity that sometimes things do not go as expected. I will try that we should win something this year,” Kaunda said.

Meanwhile, Epac FC are yet to name their coach after releasing the Abbas Makawa-led coaching panel.
