Presidential Cup final between Moyale Barracks and Nyasa Big Bullets will be played at Civo Stadium on July 16, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced.

FAM competitions manager Gomezgani Zakazaka said  it was unlikely that the venue would be changed.

“As of now, the final will be played in Lilongwe at Civo Stadium on July 16,” he said.

Nyasa Big Bullets and Moyale Barracks made it to the final after wins in semi-final matches played yesterday.

Bullets booted out Mafco with a 3-0 win at Kamuzu Stadium while Moyale sent Be Forward packing after a 1-0 win at Mzuzu Stadium.

Bullets scored through Mike Mkwate who netted a brace and Henry Kabichi.

Moyale sailed through thanks to a lone strike from Khuda Muyaba.

Moyale started the game on a high note visiting the Nomads goal area in the opening minutes of game.

The Nomads noticed Moyale’s game plan and tried to hold possession.

However, the plan did not work as it gave Moyale room to move forward.

In the 25th minute Mtopijo Njerwa did a good job for Moyale as his cross allowed Muyaba to connect home.

The Nomads searched for an equaliser but they were not aggressive enough when going  forward to enable their strikers srikers Jimmy Zakazaka and Peter Wadabwa to score.

In the second-half, the  soldiers lost steam but and Wanderers piled more pressure on Moyale but winger Mike Kaziputa’s crosses were not utilised thanks to the soldiers’ solid defence.

Moyale coach Collins Nkuna thanked his charges for playing to instructions.

Wanderers team manager Steve Madeira accepted the results saying it was not their day.

Mafco are the Presidential Cup defending champions. They defeated Silver Striker 8-7 at Civo Stadium in the last edition of the competition in 2013.

For the past two years, the competition was not held as the funds were diverted to the national team engagements. n
