Clash of generations gig August 5

What do you get when you bring Nikki Minaj and Dolly Parton to the same stage? A clash of generations. Well, that is what Entertainers Promotions is bringing to Blantyre, a clash of generations with the local flavour.

Slated for 5th August at the Blantyre Sports Club, the gig brings together some of the cream of Malawi’s secular artists like ‘Soldier’ Lucius Banda, reggae kings Black Missionaries, Lulu, Maskal, Piksy, Armstrong, Anthony Makondetsa and Joseph Nkasa among others.

According to Entertainers Promotions director Jai Banda, the show is for all age groups targeted for the family hence dubbed ‘Clash of Generations’.

“The artists billed to perform are of different age ranges so that the young, the old and everyone else should be part of the fun. It is a family entertainment. And that’s why we have artists like Armstrong, Maskal, Piksy who generally appeal to the younger generation with the likes of Banda and Nkasa for the old,” Banda said.

“We know some of the places where these artists perform are not conducive for children, for instance. It is for this reason that we have organised this show at Blantyre Sports Club and in the afternoon so as not to restrict anybody from coming.”

Banda boasted that despite the show involving local artists only, it will be of international standard.

“My core aim is to promote music in Malawi. This is the reason why I have not involved international artists because we have artists of international standards. Again, from the organisation to the performances on that day, everything will be of international standards. We have a very big stage and with about three weeks before the show, rehearsals have already started,” he bragged.

“We have invested over K3 million in terms of paying the artists, booking the venue and promotions in terms of printing high quality posters of international standards. This only means while we are entertaining the family, we also look at the quality of entertainment to offer them.

Apart from live music performances, DJs like Kennedy Nkombezi and Kenny Klips will be on the turn tables.
