Masato Mission of the Last Church of God in Kasungu has asked the new Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government to show seriousness in governance.

Mission overseer Reverend Juston Nyirenda noted that petty squabbles and persistent electioneering have contributed to the country’s failure in achieving social and economic aspirations.

He said it was unfortunate that Malawi continues to lag behind in development despite 50 years of independence.

“We could have been far much ahead of countries such as Mozambique, Rwanda and Burundi, but because of politicking, we have failed to advance,” he said.

Meanwhile, leader and founder of Powerhouse Community Outreach International Ministries Pastor Dr. Clement Nkhoma warned DPP leaders against arrogance.

He said leadership is a gift from God, hence, leaders should serve their positions in reverence to Him.

“God has willed that DPP leads us so He can fulfil His plans for this country,” he said.
