Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has set up tomorrow, April 6, as the cut-off point for licensing clubs that will participate in the TNM Super League in 2016.

All teams that fail to finalise the process by tomorrow [April 6] will not be allowed to play in the league, according to FAM club licensing manager Casper Jangale.

“You are reminded of the need to finalise submission of documents for the FAM club licensing system. The final cut-off date is on Wednesday April 6 2016,” the letter signed by Jangale reads in part.

However, Jangale revealed in an interview that most of the teams are yet to submit relevant documents such as player contracts, CAF B coaching licences, permanent secretariat details, financial statements, stadium contracts,  financial details like club account details and constitutions.

Some clubs are yet to pay the K100 000 (about $148) application fees.

Jangale warned that there would be no mercy for those that will not meet the requirements.

“The licensing will be categorised into four. Clubs that will score 70 percent and above after assessment will automatically get the licence. Those that will score between 56 and 69 percent will be given a provisional licence and some conditions to fulfil within a period.

“Those that will score between 46 and 55 percent will be on pending list. They will only get the licence after fulfilling certain requirements. But those that will score between zero and 45 percent will be out. They will not get the licence and will not participate in the league,” Jangale said.

Meanwhile, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) is optimistic that the licensing system will not affect the April 16 kick-off.

Sulom vice-president Daud Suleman said: “We are a part of the process in that we were consulted in the formulation of the calendar and framework, but the process right now, requires FAM and clubs to sort out each other.

“As of now, the process has been between FAM and the clubs. But once the licensing is through, we will take over and we will only deal with those clubs that FAM has certified.”n
