Cobbe Barracks cross-country team has started preparations in readiness for this year’s Malawi Defence Force (MDF) inter-unit cross-country competition to take place on December 14 in Zomba.

The soldiers have already spent two weeks preparing for the event at Gymkhana Golf Course, which will host the competition.

Their coach Titus Wankhama said in an interview on Monday that they are leaving no stone unturned as they gear up for the competition.

“We want to be champions; hence, the early preparations. Let me warn other participating teams that it will not be a stroll in the park for them,” said Wankhama.

He said communication from MDF headquarters in Lilongwe about the event has already been made to all units in the country.

The event will have male and female categories in 12 kilometres and eight kilometres respectively. Moyale Barracks are the defending champions.
