Cobbe Barracks FC striker MacPeter Makwale looks destined for 2015 the Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier League golden boot award having banged in 32 goals.
Makwale has a chance to extend his tally on Sunday in Cobbe’s last game against Sparc Hawks at Zomba Community Centre ground.
His closest rival, Steve Ng’ombe of Max Bullets, has 26 goals and his team has already finished its matches.
Chisomo Kamulanje of Nyasa United is third with 22 goals.
In an interview on Monday, Makwale expressed optimism that his scoring boots will not let him down come Sunday.
“This is the first time for me to score many goals in a season. God is the provider and I hope He will do the same this time when we are finishing our games,” said Makwale.
The 19-year-old added that he could not achieve the feat without the support of his teammates. n
