College of Medicine, a constituent college of the University of Malawi, on Friday awarded various cash prizes to its best students from various disciplines at a function held in Blantyre.
The college’s vice-principal Dr Steve Kamiza said the college made the gesture to recognise excellence at the institution.
“There is no reward that gives me great pleasure in this world than awarding excellence. Tonight, we are not awarding people whose excellence was neither out of sheer luck or inborn. It was a product of hard work,†he said.
The awards were sponsored by different companies, including Old Mutual, Limbe Diagnostic Centre, Universal Industries and Medical Aid Society of Malawi (Masm).
Old Mutual general manager Edith Jiya, who spoke on behalf of donor companies, said the corporate world is always willing to be associated with excellence.
