College of Medicine to hold research conference

The College of Medicine (CoM) will hold its 16th annual research dissemination conference on October 27 at the college’s campus in Blantyre under the theme ‘Promoting Research for a Healthy Population’.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, CoM’s director of research support centre Dr. Wilson Mandala said during the one-day event, researchers will present preliminary and final results on malaria, HIV and Aids, maternal and child health and non-communicable diseases research.

Mandala said the conference, which is open to the public, will bring together researchers, policy-makers and students.

“This year’s conference comprises various events which include plenary sessions, oral and poster presentations and a prize giving ceremony to the best student poster and oral presentation as a way of encouraging research practice,” he said.
