Lira, real name Lerato Molapo, will share the stage with Lulu at the concert. Blue Mingoli was formerly known as Joy of Jazz.

Addressing the media at the bank’s headquarters in Lilongwe few hours after her arrival in Malawi, Lira could not hide her excitement to be in the country for the first time. She urged Malawians to come out in large numbers.

“Come and experience what I always call the Lira experience where we give you an energetic shift from what you are used to seeing. We will give you something you can always remember,” she said.

Lira described her Afro Soul genre of music as a vehicle full of messages of inspiration.

“I translate lessons that I have learnt in life into music. For me music is a purpose, so we will give you what we call a solid punch.

Bring on your comfortable shoes as we will be moving a lot and dancing while pushing the African excellence,” she explained with a toothy smile.

The artist has come with her eight piece band, with a promise to fans of a night of good music.

Standard Bank Head of Personal and Business Banking Margaret Kubwalo Chaika said the bank “derives great pride in being the only bank that creates music waves for our customers.  We have been doing this since 2012 with Zahara, Jimmy Dludlu and Earl Klugh.”

Friday evening, Lira is expected to perform at a pre-show event for the bank’s top clients apart from a chat with employees.
