Stand-up comedian Daliso Chaponda will bring his “Laughgate” tour to Malawi’s Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) on Saturday, April 25. “Laughgate” is the follow-up to his 2013-2014 tour “Presidents of Laughrica”, which he performed alongside comedians Carl Joshua from Zimbabwe and Patrick Salvador from Uganda.

Chaponda is a legend in stand-up comedy, this year he’s bringing his unique style and humor to his motherland, and he’ll make you break down laughing and he’ll do it without cracking a smile.

IMG_7413The show will see supporting acts from Dee Satha and Neil Nayer. There will also be musical performances from Blantyre-based artist Classick of the Bola Kunthazi fame whose songs are topping many music charts locally and Viceroy.

The UK-based Malawian comic, Daliso Chaponda developed his sensibilities as a comedian in Canada with the acclaimed one man show ‘Feed This Black Man’. Following this, he began honing his craft in comedy clubs across Canada. Highlights included appearing on the Trans Canada Comedy Trail TV show and performing a One-Man character comedy about a torturer titled ‘Incisions’.

Daliso takes his influence and comedy in stride. His iconic comedy delivery, combined with his skewed perspective on life and language, has long been described by his fans both locally and international as intelligent and cerebral, but never over the heads of his audience. His jokes are quick, sharp, and hilarious.

In addition to Stand-up Comedy, Daliso is also a prolific fiction writer. He has also published science fiction, murder mysteries, erotica, literary fiction, religious fiction and fantasy fiction in numerous magazines and anthologies. In 2002 he was a finalist in the L. Ron Hubbard Writer’s of the Future Contest and in 2006 he was short listed for the Carl Brandon Society Award.

Tickets to the show can be bought at Papaya Cafe, Crossroads Hotel Business Centre, Living Room Cafe and Flavours Cafe in Lilongwe.
