Kambuwa: I was nominated in three categories

“I was nominated in three categories. South African Non-English Radio, Radio Writing and Best Radio Performance. Thankfully, and with the help of a very solid team, I managed to get two Gold Loeries, including a gold certificate for writing,” he said.

Unpacking his creations which were later submitted as entries for the awards. Kambuwa said: “Basically, I used my skills in comedy and advertising to write some radio ads for Toyota. Their brief was to come up with an interesting and engaging radio spot to advertise the Toyota Hilux’s Hill Assist Feature to the black South African target market.”

The comedian has dedicated the awards to the youth of Malawi.

“As a creative person, this means a lot to me. Most importantly for me as a Malawian, it shows that we are capable of coming up with world-class ideas that truly rock. The youth of Malawi are here and we are awesome,” he stated.

Added Kambuwa: “I believe the Loeries to be the Oscars of Advertising.

“If you are born on this rock we call Africa, and are involved in the creative industry, you dream of one day walking up on that stage and collecting a trophy. I one day look forward to using my credentials to approach brands in Malawi and create award-winning content for the Malawian audience.”

According to the awards website, www.loeries.com/loeries2018, Loeries  recognises, rewards, inspires and fosters creative excellence in the advertising and brand communication industry.

“As Africa and the Middle East’s premier awards, winning a Loerie is the highest accolade for creativity and innovation across our region.

“The Loeries promotes  creativity by helping marketers, agencies and consumers appreciate the value of fresh thinking,” it reads.
