Chiradzulu Police Station Executive Committee has donated working materials to two community policing groups in traditional authorities (T/As) Kadewere and Ntchema to encourage them to continue dealing with crime.

During the event, held on Wednesday at T/A Ntchema’s headquarters, the committee’s chairperson John Magombo, commended members of the community policing for playing a role in the reduction of crime.

“People deserve a pat on the back. You have really impressed us with the hardworking spirit you have. We know, you don`t have enough materials, but you manage to work diligently though with inadequate resources. This is very good. How I wish other groups could follow suit.” he said.

He also asked people in rural communities to report any suspects or culprits to police.

Magombo stressed the need for good working relationship between the police and rural communities to achieve more tangible results.

“Let me tell you that as an office, we don’t have enough funds for the smooth running of the programme, but using the little from well wishers and friends we have managed to reach this far,” he said.

Chairperson of the forum, James Tonde thanked the committe for the donation.

He said the donation will go a long way in boosting up the material deficiency the forum have.

T/A Ntchema hailed the police for introducing the programme [community policing], saying it reduces crime rate.

The items distributed were: reflector jackets, torches and whistles.
