Give a Child a Shoe project has donated shoes to 170 children from Kalipindire Primary School in Dowa District as one way of promoting education among needy children.

The project’s founder Patricia Nehiya said she was glad she made the donation that will assist the needy in their quest to get education.

“My vision is to have a non-governmental organisation [NGO] to support needy children, orphans and  children with disabilities,” she said.

Kalipindire Primary School head teacher NedsonChimbulungu thanked Nehiya for the shoes, saying they will help learners to work hard in class since the shoes will motivate them.

“In addition, the shoes will help learners prevent diseases when they visit unsanitary toilets,” he said.

However, he added that the learners also lack learning materials such as exercise books, pencils and pens and pleaded for well-wishers to assist.

A Standard Eight learner, Ruth Manondo, said she was excited with the shoes. She said she felt motivated to work hard in class.

The project was launched on April 5 2019 and has also reached out to 104 children from Chitukula Primary School in Lilongwe.
