Minister of Youth and Sports Ulemu Msungama has asked Mangalasi Building Contractors to complete construction of Mbandira Community Technical  College in Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota.

The order follows the delay to complete the K700 million facility this month according to schedule.

Said Msungama: “We are behind schedule and this brings in complications. We wanted to have the first intake this year. When projects do not finish on time, they become expensive.

“So, I have given them three months to finish the work.”

However, Msungama commended the contractor for the work,  saying the quality is good.

In his remarks, Emmanuel Masebo, one of the partners at Mangalasi Building Contractors, said the project delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said: “We faced challenges in accessing building materials such as steel, timber and shuttering materials due to travel restrictions.

“Again, most companies scaled down production, so we had to wait longer to access materials.”

When complete, the structure will have administration block, learning area which will include computer room, textile laboratory, motor vehicle engineering area and production area.

Construction works started in January this year.
