Reverend Lloyd Somela has all the reasons to thank God for choosing him to be resident pastor at Thyolo Assemblies of God Church.

On Sunday last week, congregants at this church donated a car worth K1.1 million to Reverend Somela; a gift that even the beneficiary confessed he never dreamt he would get from a small flock like that in Thyolo.

The church’s welfare committee chairperson, Willard Mwambo, said the donation was aimed at easing mobility challenges the man of God has when visiting sick members, among other important duties.

“We felt the pastor needed a car to help him carry out his duties. Thus, we hatched a plan in April this year to mobilise resources for the purchase of the vehicle and we’re very happy to have realised our dream,” Mwambo said triumphantly.

He said the congregation would not let the man of God suffer on their watch as that would mean they were not appreciative of his contribution to their spiritual lives.

Mwambo disclosed that the church organised a number of paper Sundays to raise funds for purchasing this car.

When asked to express his gratitude, Reverend Somela said he was at loss of words.

“I can only ask God to reward them. There’s no better word that can express my appreciation for this gift,” said the Reverend.
