Controversy over Chirwa’s BB deal

Civil Sporting Club say they have not cleared their defender Gomezgani Chirwa to join Nyasa Big Bullets.

Bullets on Friday unveiled the Flames blossoming defender as their latest signing on a three-year deal, but the Civil Servants’ general secretary Ronald Chiwaula told Times Radio on Saturday that the player is still contracted to the Civil Servants up until 2021.

“Bullets wrote us a letter expressing their interest in the player, but we have not yet made any agreement.

“What we have heard about Chirwa signing for Bullets

is, therefore, not coming from us because the player has a running contract with us up to 2021,” he said.

But Bullets chief executive officer Fleetwood Haiya yesterday said he was surprised with Chiwaula’s sentiment.

“This is news to me from you. So, before I comment let me contact them [Sporting] and I will come back to you,” he said.

However, upon signing the deal, Chirwa said it was a dream come true.

“Bullets are a big team, so to have a chance of playing for them is an honour,” he said.

Chirwa was Bullets’ fourth signing this transfer window after they roped in Preciuos Sambani (Namiwawa FC), Ben Manyozo (Dwangwa United) and Luke Chima (Tigers FC).
