Corporate Basketball tourney Saturday
The second edition of Corporate Social Basketball Tournament is set to roll into action this Saturday at the Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC).
The first edition took place in April at Malawi University of Science and Technology (Must) in Thyolo.
Corporate Social Basketball vice-president Tiyese Kayimira said interest from teams has prompted them to organise another event.
Teams taking part are defending champions Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), CDH Investment Bank (CDHIB), Ecobank, FDH Bank, FMB, Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM), TNM, Nico Technologies, NBS Bank and Legends.
Guest teams Lilongwe Pirates and Hoops will also take part.
“It will be a family day out for basketball and everybody should attend,” Kayimira said.
He said the event, which will include a three-point shooting competition, tug-of-war, dancing contest and jumping castle, will run from 8:30am to 7pm.
MRA captain Blena Chisenga, whose team won the inaugural competition after beating TNM in the finals, said they are ready for title defence.
“We have intensified our preparations to ensure our title defence bid is successful. We used a powerful game plan to win the inaugural event, but now we have twisted it a little bit to confuse our opponents. We need to keep the trophy at all cost,” Chisenga said. n
