But the two officials fell short of announcing the sponsor and actual dates for the regional competition which failed to take place last year. Zambia, under Renard Herve, won the 2013 Cosafa edition.

Destombes said the tournament will be played at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace and the nearby Moruleng Stadium.

South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) has adjusted its calendar to accommodate the Cosafa Cup at the end of that country’s football season, thereby enabling Bafana and other teams such as Flames to field full-strength squads.

Jordaan told reporters that he was considering fielding a team of the best players from the National First Division and ABC Motsepe League.
From 2016, Cosafa plans to introduce four annual tournaments – for men, Under-20 and Under-17s and for women. Next year they will also have a beach soccer tournament in the Seychelles.

Cosafa is made up of Angola, Botswana, the Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, the Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
