The High Court’s Commercial Division on Tuesday adjourned hearing of the case between Chitakale Plantations Company Limited and two women who petitioned the court to wind up the company.

Lawyer for Chitakale Plantations, Lusungu Gondwe, asked for an adjournment for 14 days to allow for settlement of the claim the two women made as earlier ordered by the High Court.

Justice John Katsala, according to court officers who attended the proceedings in the judge’s chamber, allowed the adjournment and set October 23 as the date the matter should return to court.

Mary Woodworth and Lisineti Gremu petitioned the court after Chitakale Plantations failed to pay K21 million in legal fees and compensation after it lost a case it had against the two women over land.
