Meanwhile, the High Court in Blantyre on Friday granted Chisi bail.

Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda heard the bail application Friday afternoon where Chisi’s lawyer Wanangwa Hara told the court the suspect would not jump bail because his family is still in Blantyre.court

Hara told the judge in his chamber that the suspect had no other place to go to and that police investigations were concluded and he would not tamper with that.

After the court nodded to the bail application, it ordered the murder suspect to pay a cash bond of K20 000 and to provide two sureties at a bond of K10 000 each.

The court granted the bail and examined sureties, but it was late for the police to process the paperwork to go to Mulanje Prison, where Chisi was detained, to have him released.

He was instead released yesterday.

Lusungu Gondwe, another lawyer on Chisi’s side, confirmed yesterday that police had left for Mulanje in the morning to have him released.
