Central Region Football League (CRFL) has increased registration fee for the 2012/13 Division Two season with 33.4 percent.

League chairperson Dean Josiah-Banda said Division Two teams will pay K40 000 (about $160) up from K30 000 (about $120).

Premiership and Division One teams registration of K75 000 (about $300) remain unchanged.

Justifying the increase Banda said: “This will help the league to pay the referees in time to avoid what happened last season where the money allocated to the referees run out before the games,”

He said the league has opened registration period and the season is expected to start at the end of July.

“Teams who have balances from last season will not be allowed to play this season. We wanted to chop them but we have given them a chance to square the balances and pay this season’s registration fee,” said Banda.

He said the teams that will not pay the registration by end of July will be removed from the league.

The league will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) next Tuesday, where they will review the 2011-12 season.

CRFL sponsors, Chipiku Stores, have raised their sponsorship from K3.2 (about $12 800) million to K5 million (about $2 000).
