CSTU condemns Goodall’s remarks
The Civil Servants Trade Union (CSTU) has condemned Minister of Finance Goodall Gondwe for telling civil servants seeking a salary increase to resign and look for better employment elsewhere.
CSTU general secretary Madalitso Njolomole said in a statement released on Thursday that the union finds Gondwe’s remarks “extremely offensive and quite threatening”.
Speaking last Tuesday after the opening of Managing for Development Results Learning Week, Gondwe said the civil service cannot make a person rich.
He urged civil servants to look at their employment as a calling, which does not need substantial financial rewards.
But CSTU says the minister pre-emptied one item of the negotiation agenda that was supposed to be handled by the Government Negotiating Team (GNT). n
