“Malawi has got talent, but lack of recording companies continues to haunt the industry; hence, the idea to establish Rockers Records,” said the artist, himself signed to South Africa-based Sisqo Records.

He said under Rockers Record, signees will be getting recording and promotional deals.

“I am looking at signing potential artists that will also be enjoying double benefits by performing live with the Rockers Band. It is important that musicians should master both stage and studio work,” he said.

Dan Lu bought the idea of the record label from Nigeria where artists such as KCee and Flavour play a big role in supporting the development of their country’s music industry.

“It is high time Malawi artists start uplifting the talent of emerging artists. Other countries are doing better, that is why their music industries are growing,” he said.

The artist noted that the record label has since signed Emmie Kankweche, who also happens to be his fiancée.

Dan Lu said Rockers Records will be signing both gospel and secular artists.

“It was a networking tour which has paid off. Among other things, I have learnt how artists are contributing to the development of their music industry; hence, I want to do the same,” he said.

He added:  “We can make it if we get serious with our music.”

Meanwhile, the Dan Lu has started reaping the fruits of his Nigerian trip with the release of Sweet Banana video which features Nigerian superstar KCee and is currently enjoying airplay.

He said his new album Sweet Banana will create the much needed connection with Nigerians and the continent as a whole.
