Dan Lu, Winiko to spice Katika finals

It does not get better than this. Apart from the grand final match, musician Dan Lu and comedian Winiko ( real name Bon Kalindo) are set to be the centre of attraction at the finals of the K 1 million (about $4 000) Justice Katika Trophy at the Desert Ground in Bangwe today ( Sunday) afternoon.

Mthandizi All Stars face Ntopwa United in the battle for the cup and K100 000 (about $333)  ultimate prize money.

According to the sponsor, Justice Katika, Dan Lu will perform before and after the match while Winiko will entertain the crowd at half time.

 The two will share the stage with other cerebrated stars like Che Nkhumba Thomas Chibade, Saul Chembezi, and Collins Chitembe among others.

“We just want to add fun to the climax of the four-month league. The competition has gone on very well and it befits a glamorous ending,” said Katika.

All Stars defeated Ntopwa One while United beat Mbuzi Swallows in the semi-finals.

According to the chairperson of the Bangwe Community Sports Development Committee Basiyano Bauleni all is set for the big finale.

“It has been a fantastic tournament and the two teams have promised to give us an entertaining final match. We urge all soccer fans in Bangwe and surrounding areas to come and be part of the fun,” said Bauleni.

Sports Council executive secretary George Jana is expected to be the guest of honour according to Bauleni.

There will also be individual awards in the categories of best goalkeeper, best midfielder, and best defender, and top goal scorer, player of the tournament as well as media awards for print, radio and television.
