Dreams of Malawi’s Afro-pop singer Dan Lu to break the international jinx have suffered a huge setback as the main producer who linked him to Nigerian musicians has died.

Dan Lu is set to release two music videos on leading television channels, including DStv’s Channel O.dan lu 1

Under Sisqo Productions, a record label he is signed to, the artist travelled to Nigeria in October 2015 where he shot two videos, Sweet Banana with Limpopo musician Kcee and 1+1 with Mr Flavour, who is famous for the number one hit Sawasawa.

But on Wednesday, a dark cloud fell on Dan Lu as his leading producer Chi Boy, who took him to Nigeria, died in a road accident.

“I don’t have many details save for the fact that he died on Wednesday night in Lagos after the scooter he was riding was involved in an accident.

“I am so shocked and disappointed because he is one of the people I was working with on my latest music and he was taking a leading part in everything,” he said.

Chi Boy ran a music studio in Lekki, Lagos.

“He is now gone, for good. There is that gap that needs to be replaced which is not that easy because we are about to promote my two songs. He was very talented, the man who believed in me and my dream of taking my music to the international scene. I will miss him. But I know we will make it because there are other producers under the record label who will continue,” said the artist. n
