Dan Lu’s Sorry launched amid chaos

It was a sorry sight as people lost their mobile phones, money, ATM cards and other valuables to pick-pockets who disguised themselves as patrons finding their way through the tightly-packed entrance as Dan Lu launched his album Sorry at Robin’s Park in Blantyre on Friday night.

The security and the police officers at the entrance did not make matters any better as their efforts to ease the chaos only aggravated it. Stopping people from entering resulted in many people blocking the entrance.

In an interview with The Nation, Dan Lu said people who were causing chaos were vagabonds wanting steal from patrons.

“This behaviour has to stop if we want the entertainment industry to grow. We organised two queues where people could buy tickets, get stamped and enter. This even happens in South Africa, but the problem is that people want to take advantage of the situation,” said Dan Lu.

The show, which was supported by Blakk Jak, Piksy, Weezle, Dali, Dictator and Skeffa Chimoto, enjoyed a sizeable patronage for a night show.

The artist mesmerised fans as he performed Uhule ndi Mtima—making sexually suggestive gestures as he performed the number. Dan Lu sang kamdala aka..ndi vuto while making a phallus symbol with his crotch as he gave a sultry dance.

The artist also performed Shupi, the song that earned him a spot on the music scene and other popular songs such as Khaze and Part of Life while blending in some Nigerian popular songs such as Aye by Davido.

But it was his new number, Holy Ghost Fire, that worked the audience, locking them in a trance.

Skeffa Chimoto almost stole the show as he closed the with a powerful performance.

Surprising the patrons even more, the artist invited on stage Chizondi Fumulani, who was in the audience, to play the piano. The dreadlocked Black Missionaries keyboardist showed his wizardly, leaving the jaws of the audience on the floor. n

  1. The story does not flow, chaos are associated with huge crowds not siezable crowd as the writer puts it. Then comes on the show, he focuses on old songs and not what the new launched album says. Music writing is not political party rally writing. Get the game up, read proper reviews and tell the story as it happened. This one a waste of space and the editor is dumb to have even allowed a story that as not flow! Or make sense, what is Skeffa Powerful perfomance….eeeish I get irritated to read amateurish review when I am wasting my aritime
