The artist kicks off his tour in Mzuzu tonight and will perform in Lilongwe tomorrow.

“On November 12, I will be in Mzuzu at Macondo Camp, and the following day I will be in Lilongwe at the Champions Sports Bar. Throughout, I will be supported by Adrian Kwelepeta. I want people to sample my new songs from my upcoming album and to convince them as to why they should keep voting for me to bring the award home,” said Kalima.

The award-winning musician is confident of winning his first ever international award saying he has wooed more votes.

“Since my nomination, I have done many shows, campaigning to get more votes because remembers it’s all about the numbers. I have used social media, television and word to mouth through my fellow artists and friends to vote for me because it’s not all about Malawi,” he said.

Apart from Kalima, who leaves for Lagos, Nigeria next week, Malawi is banking its hopes on South Africa-based musician Blade Deep who is nominated for best African electro music. n
