Banda has fallen from being the celebrated first ever Malawi Defence Force (MDF) trailblazing football export to South Africa’s Black Leopards to Red Lions’ and Flames’ outcast amid accusations of indiscipline.

Kamuzu Barracks general secretary Dickson Mtontholo on Wednesday confirmed that at their meeting at Kamuzu Barracks on Monday, MDF management resolved to give Banda a second chance with the Lilongwe side.

“We have received a letter from our management that he is coming here with immediate effect. They believe playing for us could help ascertain whether he indeed has disciplinary problems or there was a personality clash with the coach [Collins Nkuna],” Mtontholo explained.

MDF sports officer Warrant Officer Class One John Kaputa confirmed that Banda’s issue was tabled in the player’s absence and that Red Lions were asked to submit Black Leopards’ report which explained reasons behind his early departure from the South African side.
