Dubbed the Go Green Concert, Davido is billed to perform alongside a couple of Malawian artists.

“We are coming with the full band and squad of 12 people. We are all set for the show. We are looking for forward to performing in Malawi,” said the artist’s manager Kamal Ajiboye in an interview.

The concert will be at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe’s Area 47 where five local performing artists are also billed to perform. So far, Black Missionaries and Lucius Banda have confirmed to perform on the day, according to the organisers.

The Go Green Campaign is aimed at protecting the country’s forest cover, health of users and the environment. Energy conservation initiatives such as the use of energy saving bulbs and public awareness campaigns on effective use of electricity will be key elements of the campaign.

The campaign has also engaged local music artists, namely Patience Namadingo, Shammah Chiumya, Trevor Kandoje and Kalista Kalele in composing the theme song and will produce a music video for the song which will feature president Peter Mutharika among other high profile personalities.

The launch targets to raise over K17 million which shall purchase 175 000 trees.

Some of the tracks by Davido that are popular in Malawi are Gobe, Skelewu, Aye and collaborations such as Number One with Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania and South Africa’s Mafikizolo Tchelete hit.
