With striker Tabitha Chawinga’s loss to Swedish football imminent, DD Sunshine Women Football Club has instantly embarked on a scouting mission for her replacement.

DD Sunshine director David Dube confirmed yesterday that they would take their scouting to the Northern Region where in 2012 they spotted Chawinga who is now undergoing three-week trials at Swedish Division One side Krokom/Dvarsatts IF.

“Now that Tabitha is gone, the club has a task to find a replacement quickly. By the end of November this year, two more players will be leaving for another Scandinavian country. Arrangements and processes are underway. Once completed, names of the players and the country will be made public,” said Dube.

On April 11, DD Sunshine FC will be in Chitipa where will take on  Young Destroyers Football Club while on April 12 they will be in Karonga to face Ipota Stars.

On April 14, DD Sunshine will engage with Rumphi Stars in the district, while on April 16 they will proceed to Mzuzu for a clash with Blackpool and Kakumbi FC of Nkhata Bay.

The scouting will finish with a game against Young Bullets FC of Mzimba on April 17.

“We are also looking for a goalkeeper, two defenders and two strikers, all of whom should be Under-20 and in school,” said Dube.

He said all the teams DD Sunshine FC are playing are for boys/men Division One clubs because women football regional competitions are too weak to help them prepare their players for overseas careers.

“Our aim (vision) as a club is not just to play football, but to change lives of our players for the better,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chawinga was expected to start her trials yesterday with Dube hinting at a possible outright deal.
