Madina Ngulube and Mwayi Kasiya scored a brace each while Sabina Thom, Wezzie Mvula and Gladys Banda scored a goal each.

It was a one-sided affair and DD Sunshine were leading comfortably 7-0 at half time with goals.

In the quarter-finals, played in the morning of the day, Sunshine, a team coached by former Big Bullets forward Andrew Chikhosi, saw-off Lilongwe Stars 4-0. Chawinga and Mvula netted two goals each in the first half.

Sunshine captain Madina Ngulube said she is optimistic of winning the regional tournament and sail through to the national finals.

According to Central Region Women’s Football Committee (CRWFC) general secretary Ella Banda, in Group B quarter-finals fixtures, Gunners will take on Msangu while Twinkles will face Skippers FC on Saturday at KIS.

The winners will meet in the semi-finals the same day.

The regional champions, apart from qualifying for national finals, will get K400 000 ($701) with runners-up getting K200 000 ($351). Third best team will get a consolation of K100 000 ($176).
