The body, found in a gutter near a service station under construction, was identified as that of Jonas Kwasalayani, 20, from BCA high density section.

In an interview on Thursday, Limbe Police Station deputy spokesperson Pedzisai Zembeneko said the deceased went missing on December 23 and his mother thought he had gone to do piecework in Mpingwe Township.

Zembeneko said when police received a report about the dead body recovery, they went to the scene with medical personnel from Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).

A post-mortem established that Kwasalayani died due to a head injury.

He urged patience from the public and the bereaved family as police launch investigations.

The case comes against the background of National Police spokesperson Nicholas Gondwa indicating that during Christmas holiday, police recorded one case of murder nationwide reported in Bangwe Township. n
