Diamonds sparkle in GOtv

Kukoma Diamonds have finally ended their search for the GOtv Netball Champions League crown with a convincing 38-28 triumph over Blue Eagles Sisters in the finals played at Don Bosco in Lilongwe on Saturday.

Diamonds, who beat Tigresses 34-33 in semi-finals, recovered from 7-8 deficit in the first quarter to lead 17-12 and 28-22 in the subsequent segments.

They received a trophy and K2.5 million first prize.

“It has been a long time since we replenished our mantelpiece with a trophy. It is a great relief to finally end the title-drought,” said Diamonds coach Griffin Saenda.

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) stopped Diamonds from using foreign-based Mwawi Kumwenda.

But Diamonds worked hard to win the tournament with shooters Alinafe Kamwala and Jessica Sanudi steering their ship. n
