Defending champions Diamonds and Tigresses will be out to battle for leadership and protect their unbeaten runs in the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) at the Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) tomorrow.

According to SRNL general secretary Annie Hanjahanja-Billie, the encounter between the two rivals will start at 11am.

Diamonds are currently second on the log table with 30 points from 10 games while Tigresses are on top of the ladder with 33 points from 11 encounters.

“This will be a crucial moment for us. We need a win to keep alive our hopes of defending the league title,” said Diamonds coach Griffin Saenda.

His Tigresses counterpart Charles Mhango said they will leave no stone unturned in their attempt to complete the 2013/14 season with at least a trophy after they lost the Presidential Netball title to their sworn rivals recently.

“Beating Diamonds will mean we are on the safer side to win the trophy. We are, therefore, more than ready to get into the battlefield this weekend,” he said.

MTL Queens, who are third on the log table with 24 points from nine games, are expected to take on Prison Sisters in an earlier encounter starting at 9.30am.
