DIY flu cure

Listen to this article

Sometimes life is too simple to manage. Just last week, I learnt that it is possible to cure flu without swallowing a single tablet.

I appreciated the tip on flu cure without taking any medicine because the flu struck at a time I had just completed a five-day dosage. I delayed my hospital visit because I knew I would come back home with a ‘tonne’ of medicines from the private medical practitioner who, it seems to me, uses every hospital visit to impress a client on the importance of belonging to a medical scheme.

While I delayed the hospital visit and hoped for a cure, I was pleasantly surprised when a colleague who was touched by my red eyes proposed that I should dip my feet in hot water for about 30 minutes and the flu would clear-off by the following morning.

When I got home that evening, I boiled water in a kettle, poured the water in plastic basin big enough to accommodate by size 10 feet and cooled it a bit to tolerable levels. I dipped, my feet in the water for over 30 minutes. I did not notice any difference. The water was getting cold, I heated another kettle-full and added to the water in the basin.

I dipped my feet in the water. I almost scalded my feet. I cooled it a bit. I dipped my feet and concentrated on writing to kill time. At around midnight I walked to my bedroom.

I had peaceful sleep and I was pleasantly surprised in the morning to wake up with my condition completely improved. The inquisitive person in me saw me checking on the Internet to check the connection between dipping feet in hot water and flu cure.

Information I sourced from amazinghealth.com shows that a hot foot bath is remedy for a number of ailments including colds, chest congestion, flu, coughs and pelvic inflammatory disease.

On the linkage between hot water feet bath and cure of some diseases the website says: “Hot foot baths increase blood flow through the feet and entire skin surface, relieving congestion in internal organs and brain. This type of bath also elevates the body temperature, relaxing tense muscles and increasing white blood cell activity.”

A word of caution will suffice. This method is not good for those with insulin-dependent diabetes and with poor blood circulation in the feet and legs, or a loss of sensation in the feet or legs, according to the website.

That’s it, there is also DIY treatment. This is one of it. n
