Do we need more churches?

Christ Union Revival International Ministry is celebrating its third anniversary. Our reporter, WATIPASO MZUNGU JNR, talks to 22-year-old founder of the ministry, Prophet Andrew Kambeja.

What is your background?

I was born in 1987, on April 21, in Lilongwe at Bwaila Hospital (then Bottom Hospital). I started my primary school at Manja Primary School from where I was selected to Mitundu Secondary School in 2006. In 2007, I moved to Michiru Private Secondary School where I sat my Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations in 2009. Then, I did computer sciences at National College of Information and Technology (NACIT) from 2009 to 2011.

Are you married?

I am not yet married.  I’m waiting for God’s appointed time.

How did you become a prophet?

I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour in 2006 while at Mitundu Secondary School. I got born again when God protected me from a satanic attack during one night.  The following morning around 4am, Jesus appeared to me and said: “Shalom!” This means peace. From there, everything in my life changed and I was lead by the Spirit to fast and pray for 14 days without food or water of which I did. Immediately after fasting and praying, God started speaking to me about people’s situations and when I talk to them they were confirming that what I said about them was true. Then people started asserting that God is using me. I went to one Pastor Sandfor Kachule who prayed for me before I ventured into the ministry God gave me.

Which church did you initially belong to? Why did you leave it?

I was a member of Anglican Church of Malawi. By then, my former church didn’t allow its faithful to prophecise and operate the way I was doing. This compelled me to start a ministry so that I should not disturb the Anglican protocols and procedures. By God’s grace, people started coming to me and God has touched them.

But why should people believe your prophesies?

I can’t force people to trust or believe me because it’s not my working, but God’s. And I don’t have to convince people of whether I am a true prophet or not. It’s the Holy Spirit that does that. What we need to know is that when God calls someone, He works for Himself through that person and the one who is called does not have the ability to convince people. I’m a human being and I have my shortcomings, but I can assure you that God has called me into a prophetic ministry.

Are you not one of the people that venture into ministry to enrich themselves?

As you can read in my biography, I went to school and I have all that it takes for someone to be employed. I can even start my on venture. But I submitted to God’s calling. Apart from having a ministry, I also do business to sustain myself. I’m not desperate and I can never be desperate because when God calls you, He provides for your needs.

Where are you congregating currently?

We are congregating at Limbe Primary School Hall. There are so many testimonies that people are giving about what God is doing through my ministry. Many prophesies that I made have come to pass and some are still coming to pass. I can’t write all of the testimonies or prophesies that have come to pass, but just visit us one Sunday from 2pm – 4:30pm and see what God is doing. Apostle Paul said it is no longer I who lives, but God lives in me. It is not me doing the work, but Jesus Christ does it through me.
