Chilemba: This is my time

Light heavyweight boxer Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ has warned his Russian challenger Denis ‘The Pirate’ Grachev against standing in his way to world title fights in America.

The South Africa-based Chilemba said this ahead of his meeting with the Russian in tomorrow’s 10-round Co-Feature on NBCSN Fight Night at the Sands Casino and Hotel in Bethlehem, America.

It is a non-title fight and Chilemba’s record is (21-2-2, 9 KOs) against Grachev’s (13-2-1, 8 KOs).

“I know he is a tough Russian fighter. He has been in the ring against some of the best fighters and defeated some of them. I am looking forward to the challenge. I am going for the victory. This is my time, I will destroy anyone who dares to stand in my way,” Chilemba is quoted as saying by www.realcombantmedia.com/2014/2.

Chilemba is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Ghanain Michael Gbenga last November in America.  It was the first step on his road back to the top of the light heavyweight division after losing to Englishman Tony Bellew last year.

In reply, Grachev is quoted as saying: “Chilemba is a good boxer, but I can hit hard. I want a clean fight.”

The Pirate made his name by scoring a huge upset two years ago against then favourite Ismayl Sillakh. Grachev then suffered defeat by unanimous decision to Lucian Bute, but the Russian redeemed himself by defeating Zsolt Erdei.

The main event tomorrow features the heavyweight battle between Tomasz ‘Goral’ Adamek and Vyacheslav “Czar” Glazkov. It is a fitting co-feature for the card billed as “The Crossroads”.
